Subject: THE PLANET EARTH
Procedure
Introduction: This lesson is to learn how to write a well- comprehensive paragraph out of a table.
New Vocabulary: Position
Teaching Aids: Student’s writing book, poster 10 (The Planet Earth), recording 12 (Paragraphs: The Planet Earth), cassette player and the board.
Presentation: (1)- Checking the previous homework by asking the students to open their students’ books at page 61. Asking individuals to read their answers. Going round the class to check the rest.
(2)- Hanging up the poster in order to point to the table. Pointing to each column and row and asking some questions about each, such as: What is the name of the planet? What is the Earth position in the solar system? How far is Earth from the sun? What is its diameter in kilometers? How many days are there in a year on Earth? How long does a day last? At what angle is Earth tilted? What is Earth’s average temperature? What gases does the atmosphere of Earth consist of? What else does Earth have? Is there any life on Earth? Eliciting the answers of these questions. Playing the recording while the students look at the table. Pointing to the appropriate row whenever there is a sentence talking about the information in that row.
(3)- Writing two paragraphs about: The Planet Earth on the board. The paragraphs should be similar to the ones on the recording. Instructing the students to produce themselves the possible sentences starting with the title. Revising the writing rules while writing these two paragraphs. Modifying and improving some sentences as soon as we finish. Asking individuals to read aloud these two paragraphs. Cleaning the board.
Application: Making two paragraphs out of a table. Writing it on the board.
Homework Assignment: Correct the paragraphs on writing book page 30.
Subject: THE PLANET MARS
Procedure
Introduction: This lesson is to check the correction of the previous two paragraphs as well as to make similar two paragraphs about another planet.
New Vocabulary: Carbon dioxide.
Teaching Aids: Student’s writing book and the board.
Presentation: (1)- Reviewing apostrophe and spelling rules for adding -s .
(2)- Checking the previous homework by asking the students to open their writing books at page 30. Instructing random individuals to read the sentences of the two paragraphs, one by one, and say whether there is a mistake or not. Correcting the mistakes in the case of any.
(3)- Making two oral paragraphs by asking the students to go back to page 29, look at the table, compare the information in each column and compare them with the sentences on page 30 of the same book. Allowing the students to shout out the title for this lesson. Producing the possible sentences. Writing these sentences on the board. Making sure that the students are putting away their pens and books. Modifying and improving the sentences as soon as we finish. Reading the two paragraphs loudly. Cleaning the board and asking the students to start writing these two paragraphs.
(4)- Going round the class to help the ones who need any kind of help regarding those paragraphs. Encouraging the students by saying: These two paragraphs will be corrected out of four marks. The ones who get the four won’t be asked to rewrite them while others are asked to do so. Collecting the writing books at the end of the time.
Application: Checking the previous homework. Making oral paragraphs out of a table. Writing these two paragraphs. Collecting the writing books at the end of the period even if they haven’t finished.
Homework Assignment: None.
Subject: ARAB AID
Procedure
Introduction: This lesson is to practice listening as well as to practice describing and analyzing a picture orally and in chorus.
New Vocabulary: Aid, enable, financial, jungle, labourer, Malaysia, Malaysian, needy, plantation, rubber.
Teaching Aids: Student’s book, writing book, poster 11 (Arab Aid), recording 13 (Arab Aid), cassette player and the board.
Presentation: (1)- Giving back the writing books. Praising the ones who got full marks in writing the two paragraphs about the Planet Mars. Encouraging the others with announcing samples of the common mistakes. Eliciting the comments on correction and the questions after the students look at their grades.
(2)- Discussing Arab Aid by hanging up the poster. Instructing the students to close their books. Pointing to each picture on the poster. Asking some questions about each one, such as: Who is this man? What is the nationality of the other one? How do you know? Where are they standing? What kind of trees are these? Why are they cutting rubber trees? What do we call the forests in the tropical area? Eliciting the answers in order to introduce the lesson and some of the new words.
(3)- Writing these questions on the board: What is the expert’s name? When did the project start? Where did help come from? What two things did this enable them to do? Playing the recording twice. Eliciting the answers of these questions. Going back to the student’s book at page 62 to go through the questions and discussion.
Application: Giving back the writing books. Practicing listening and describing pictures. Discussing Arab Aid.
Homework Assignment: For those who got less than four marks, write a fair copy of the two paragraphs on writing book page 32.
